The two founders of Iridology: Dr. Ignatz von Peczely and Nils Lilkequist. Both of them had discovered how the iris could reflect the body’s slight illness by the way of looking through their personal experience. As Perczely was still a child, he accidentally hurt an owl’s leg, however he then observed that the owl’s iris structure and colour changed as its leg was healing. On the other hand, Lilijequist was experienced the changes of his own irises after he got healed from illness by taking drugs. After that, both of them had respectively created they own iris charts denoting. They denoted the different section of the irises represent to different part of the body. Amazingly, they came out with an extreme similar iris chart which both of them did not know of the other’s work. (Ayala, 2004) Dr. Bernard Jensen also known as the “ Father or Iridology” had spent over his 60 years of researching in the iris science, he also wrote many books on iridology. In the early 18th century, he had deeply modified the iris charts into clearer version, then his students and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ellen Tart-Jensen was slightly amended his chart and become a more modern and detailed chart in today iridology world. (Jensen and Bodeen, 1992) As the technology is getting advanced, the way of using iridology is also changing. In the 18th century, the iridologists examined their patients through direct observing on the iris, whereas with the high technology advancement, the iridologists can now access to a high definition of cameras and which assist them to observe the iris in a several times more enlargement. (But Is It Science, 2015) Altered (2015) mentions that iridology is basically detect the physically and mentally of our body condition. However, Sheridan says that iridology cannot diagnosis of a disease such as cancer, the pregnancy women as well as patients with kidney stones or gall bladder stones. Written by Jean Ee. References
